The body of a 42-year-old man was recovered from the Dughwan forest area on the outskirts of Srinagar early Friday morning, officials said.
An official said the man was found in the forest area and was subsequently taken to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Harwan, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The body was later shifted to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, for further medical examination and other necessary formalities.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Lateef, 42, son of Mohammad Aalam, a resident of Thugla in Rajouri district.
Police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. Further proceedings in the matter are underway.
