18-Year-Old Srinagar Youth Drowns in Nallah Sindh, Body Recovered in Kangan

The body of an 18-year-old youth from Srinagar, who went missing while bathing in Nallah Sindh in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, was recovered in the Kangan area on Saturday, officials said.

The deceased was identified as Danish Bilal, son of Bilal Ahmad Hajam, a resident of Srinagar.

According to officials, Danish was bathing in Nallah Sindh near the dumping park at Kijpara on Friday when he reportedly drowned and disappeared into the water.

Following the incident, police, personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local residents launched an extensive search operation to trace the missing youth.

After nearly two days of search efforts, the rescue teams recovered his body from the water body near Prang in Kangan, officials said.

Police have initiated proceedings to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The body will be handed over to the deceased’s family after completion of the required medico-legal formalities, officials said.
