J&K Labour Department Clears Promotions, Career Advancements for 16 Officials

The Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) of the Jammu and Kashmir Labour Department has approved promotions and non-functional career advancements for 16 officials, paving the way for their professional progression within the department.

The DPC, chaired by Labour Commissioner J&K Charandeep Singh, considered the cases of eligible employees during its meeting held on August 21, 2026. The committee examined their service records and assessed their eligibility in accordance with the prescribed rules and criteria.

Among the functional promotions, three Labour Inspectors—Nazir Ahmad Najar, Mohammad Salim Sofi and Farooq Ahmad Dar—were promoted as Labour Officers.

Mohd Sharief, working as a Supervisor, was promoted as Caretaker, while Vitan Malla, a Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) employee, was elevated to the post of Junior Assistant. Abdul Rashid Bhat was promoted from MTS to Supervisor.

In addition to the functional promotions, the DPC approved In-Situ Promotions (Non-Functional) for 10 officials as part of their career advancement.

Those granted the benefit include Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, ALWO; Syed Tanwir Ahmad Shah, Nazir Ahmad Jagal, Sanjay Chib, Bashir Ahmad Wani and Mohammad Iqbal, all MTS employees.

The list also includes Roman Teji, Sweeper; Chanchal Kumari and Shahnaz Parveen, Senior Assistants; and Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Medical Assistant.

Congratulating the officials on their career advancement, Labour Commissioner Charandeep Singh said timely promotions and career progression were important components of employee welfare and contributed to building a motivated, efficient and accountable workforce.

He expressed confidence that the promoted officials would discharge their enhanced responsibilities with dedication, professionalism and integrity, while maintaining a strong commitment to public service.

The Labour Commissioner also emphasised that career progression not only recognises the contribution of employees but also strengthens institutional efficiency and improves service delivery.

The Labour Department extended its best wishes to all 16 officials and expressed hope that their advancement would further contribute to the effective functioning of the department and delivery of services to the public.
