Newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Sujit Kumar, IPS, called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar on Tuesday, shortly after assuming charge as the police chief of the Kashmir Zone.
The meeting was described as a courtesy call following Kumar’s appointment to the key position responsible for overseeing policing and security across the Kashmir Valley.
During the interaction, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah extended his best wishes to the officer and expressed hope for a successful and effective tenure.
Kumar’s meeting with the Chief Minister came soon after he took charge of his new assignment, marking his first formal interaction with the head of the elected government following his appointment.
The IGP Kashmir is entrusted with overseeing law and order, security and policing operations across the Valley, and coordinating with various security and civil administration agencies on matters related to public safety.
