Traffic Police has announced restrictions and diversions on key roads in Srinagar on Monday in view of the inauguration of the maiden International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC).
According to SSP Traffic City Srinagar Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, Gupkar Road will remain restricted to general traffic from 4 pm to 7 pm, with entry permitted only to invitees, festival participants, VVIPs and event staff.
Traffic approaching SKICC and Nehru Park from Badyari Chowk and Brein Chowk will also be restricted during the period, except for hotel guests and local residents. Vehicles heading towards Nishat will be diverted via Gupkar and Hazratbal.
Similarly, vehicles approaching from the Nishat and Harwan side will be diverted towards Hazratbal to ease congestion and facilitate the movement of guests attending the inauguration.
The restrictions and diversions will remain effective from 4 pm to 7 pm, or until the conclusion of the inauguration ceremony, whichever is later.
Traffic Police has advised commuters to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with personnel deployed in the area to ensure smooth traffic movement and minimise inconvenience during the event.
