A motorcyclist was killed in a suspected hit-and-run accident in the Kalai area of Poonch district on Tuesday morning, while an unidentified body was found near a bus stand shed in Balicharana area of Jammu later in the day, officials and reports said.
In Poonch, the accident occurred near Kalai on the road connecting Khanetar and Kalai, where an unidentified vehicle allegedly struck a motorcycle. The rider sustained critical injuries and died at the spot, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Mehmood Ahmed, son of Abdul Latief, a resident of Khanetar, Poonch.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and launched an investigation to identify and trace the vehicle involved in the accident. Efforts are also underway to establish the exact circumstances leading to the collision.
Meanwhile, an unidentified body was found near a bus stand shed in Balicharana, Jammu, on Tuesday.
According to reports, the body was noticed near the shed, following which police were informed. A police team reached the spot and initiated necessary proceedings.
The identity of the deceased was not immediately known. Police are working to establish the person’s identity and determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the death.
