Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday invited travellers from across India and around the world to visit the Union Territory, showcasing its natural beauty, cultural richness and diverse tourism offerings on World Tourism Day.
Describing Jammu and Kashmir as an “immortal paradise”, Abdullah said the region offered a wide range of experiences, from adventure sports and leisure retreats to pilgrimage circuits, destination weddings, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) facilities, unexplored trekking routes and film locations.
“On World Tourism Day, I warmly invite travellers from across India and around the world to experience the timeless beauty and unmatched hospitality of Jammu & Kashmir,” the Chief Minister said.
Abdullah said the government was committed to strengthening tourism infrastructure and promoting sustainable and eco-friendly tourism across the Union Territory. He emphasised that local youth and the region’s rich cultural traditions should remain at the heart of the tourism and hospitality sector.
“Our government is committed to strengthening tourism infrastructure and promoting sustainable eco-tourism, while keeping our local youth and rich cultural traditions at the heart of J&K’s hospitality sector,” he said.
The Chief Minister also urged visitors to explore Jammu and Kashmir’s mountains, lakes and valleys and experience its cultural and tourism attractions.
“Welcome visitors with open arms and invite you to visit Jammu & Kashmir, explore its beauty and create cherished memories,” Abdullah said.
The invitation comes amid the government’s broader efforts to diversify tourism beyond established destinations. Earlier this week, Abdullah said the administration was pursuing a multi-pronged strategy focused on developing new and emerging destinations in Jammu Division and promoting pilgrimage, heritage, adventure, eco, nature, rural, cultural, wellness and leisure tourism.
