The Doda–Kishtwar road was blocked on Saturday morning after a major landslide struck the Gatsoo area near Pul Doda, officials said.
According to officials, heavy debris and large boulders rolled onto the road, completely halting vehicular movement along the route.
“Men and machinery have been deployed to clear the debris. However, restoration is likely to take time. The road will be reopened for traffic only after it is fully cleared and declared safe,” an official said.
The blockade has left hundreds of vehicles stranded on both sides of the highway, causing significant inconvenience to commuters. Authorities have advised travellers to avoid the route until normal traffic movement is restored.
