Examiner Bureau | Srinagar:
The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday filed a chargesheet against four officials of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation and seven private beneficiaries in connection with an illegal construction case registered under FIR No. 24/2020.
The chargesheet has been submitted before the Court of the Additional Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Srinagar, for judicial determination under provisions of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code.
According to officials, the case pertains to the construction of six unauthorised structures at Jawahar Nagar, Goni Khan, Hari Singh High Street and Wazir Bagh in Srinagar without obtaining valid permissions from the competent authority.
Investigations conducted by the ACB, based on both oral and documentary evidence, established that the illegal constructions were carried out in alleged connivance with officials of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
“The investigation has substantiated the charges against the accused public servants and private beneficiaries, establishing a clear conspiracy,” officials said.
Following the completion of the probe and after obtaining the required sanction for prosecution of public servants, the chargesheet was formally presented before the court for further legal proceedings.
