Examiner News Desk | Kulgam:

In a major anti-narcotics action, police and the district administration in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday jointly demolished the residential house of an alleged husband-and-wife drug peddling duo as part of an ongoing crackdown against the drug trade in the region.

Officials identified the property owners as Nafeez Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Ramzan Dar, a resident of Brazloo Jagir, and his wife, Rukiya Jan, both allegedly involved in multiple narcotics-related cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

According to police records, Nafeez Ahmad Dar is named in FIR No. 143/2020 under Section 8/15 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Yaripora, and FIR No. 10/2021 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Kulgam.

His wife, Rukiya Jan, is also facing several cases related to narcotics trafficking, including FIR No. 27/2023 under Sections 8/20 and 21 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Anantnag, and FIR No. 10/2024 under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Yaripora. She is presently lodged in Central Jail Srinagar.

Police officials said the demolition drive is part of a broader campaign aimed at dismantling the infrastructure and support systems allegedly used by drug traffickers and peddlers across Kashmir.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations and taking stringent action against individuals involved in narcotics smuggling and distribution to curb the growing drug menace in the region.
