Hundreds of Tourists Rescued After Technical Snag Halts Gulmarg Gondola Service

Hundreds of tourists were stranded aboard the Gulmarg Gondola, one of the largest cable car systems in Asia, after the service developed a technical snag at the famous ski resort in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, officials said.

According to officials, operations of both phases of the cable car service were suspended immediately following the malfunction.

Hundreds of tourists who were on the ride at the time of the incident were safely rescued from the cabins by personnel of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), officials added.

No injuries were reported during the evacuation operation.

Authorities said restoration work on the cable car system is currently underway, and efforts are being made to resume services at the earliest.
