A labourer lost his life while ten others sustained injuries after an under-construction culvert collapsed in the Ghill Nala area of Bhalessa in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Tuesday.
Officials said the incident occurred during ongoing construction work, trapping several labourers beneath the structure after the culvert suddenly gave way.
All the injured workers, who are residents of Bihar, were immediately rescued and shifted for medical treatment following the incident.
Due to the seriousness of their injuries, the labourers were later referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Doda for specialised care, officials added.
Police and local authorities have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of the collapse.
