Two young men lost their lives in a tragic road accident in the Lewra Chamalwas area of Ramban district on Friday evening.
According to official reports, the accident occurred at around 6:30 pm when a Tata Nexon bearing registration number JK19A-3165 was travelling towards Neel Batu in Tehsil Ramsoo. The vehicle was carrying two occupants, both residents of Neel Batu village.
One of the occupants, identified as Zeeshan Lateef, son of Abdul Lateef, died on the spot after sustaining critical injuries in the crash. The second occupant, Mohd Amir, son of Mohd Shafi Chopan, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment after being referred to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal.
Hospital sources said that post-mortem examinations are being conducted at SDH Banihal. The bodies will be handed over to the families after completion of the necessary legal formalities.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the accident.
The tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom over Neel Batu village, with residents mourning the untimely demise of the two youths and expressing condolences to the bereaved families.
