The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested three persons, including two officials of the Forest Department, in connection with an alleged bribery case in Kashmir, official sources said on Sunday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Ranger Manzoor Ahmad Malik, a resident of Kawoosa in Magam; Forester Manzoor Ahmad Dar of Nusgam, Khansahib; and Bashir Ahmad Ganie, a casual labourer from Ramhama, Beerwah.

According to sources, the arrests were made in connection with FIR No. 05/2026 registered at the CBI Police Station, Kashmir, under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The action followed a trap operation conducted by a CBI team in the Beerwah area of Budgam district. During the operation, Bashir Ahmad Ganie was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting a bribe amount of Rs 15,000 on behalf of the accused officials.

The operation was launched after the agency received allegations regarding the demand for illegal gratification from a complainant, sources said.

The CBI has taken all three accused into custody and further investigation into the case is underway.
