Examiner Bureau | Srinagar:
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said she had spoken to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann regarding reports that Kashmiri mutton dealers were being stopped and allegedly harassed at Madhopur and the Shambhu border under the pretext of the Cattle Fair Act.
In a post on X, Mufti said she had raised concerns over the difficulties reportedly being faced by traders from Kashmir while transporting livestock and conducting business in Punjab.
“Spoke with Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann ji about Kashmir mutton dealers reportedly being stopped and harassed by contractors in the name of the Cattle Fair Act at Madhopur, Punjab, and the Shambhu border. He was kind enough to assure me of prompt action,” Mufti said.
The former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister thanked Mann for his intervention and expressed hope that the issue would be resolved at the earliest.
The development comes amid growing concerns among sections of the trading community over alleged obstacles faced during the transportation and trade of livestock outside Jammu and Kashmir.
