Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday visited the Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu to review preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026, directing officials to ensure seamless arrangements for the annual pilgrimage.
During the visit, the Lieutenant Governor assessed the preparedness of various departments and reviewed logistics, accommodation, security, healthcare, help desks, sanitation, power and water supply, emergency response mechanisms and other essential facilities for the pilgrims.
Emphasising the need for efficient management in view of the anticipated heavy rush of devotees, Sinha directed officials to strengthen manpower deployment to ensure smooth operations throughout the pilgrimage. He also instructed the authorities to make regular public announcements at Bhagwati Nagar and the Tawi Riverfront so that yatris receive timely information regarding travel, security and other essential services.
The Lieutenant Governor also interacted with devotees of Baba Barfani, extending his best wishes for a safe, peaceful and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage.
The 57-day Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is scheduled to commence on July 3, 2026, simultaneously from the twin base camps via the Pahalgam and Baltal routes, and will conclude on August 28, 2026.
The first batch of pilgrims will be flagged off by the Lieutenant Governor from Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar, on July 2.
Sinha was accompanied by Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Special Director General (Coordination) S.J.M. Gillani, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, Inspector General of Police Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti, Inspector General of Police CRPF Jammu Sector Amol V. Homkar, Inspector General of Police Traffic M. Suleman Choudhary, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Dr. Rakesh Minhas, Municipal Commissioner Jammu Dr. Devansh Yadav, and senior officers from the civil administration, police and security forces.
