The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Saturday extended the summer vacation for all government and recognised private schools in the Kashmir Division and the winter zones of the Jammu Division till July 22, 2026, citing the prevailing heatwave conditions and an adverse weather advisory.
The announcement was made by Minister for School Education and Higher Education, Sakina Itoo, through a post on X.
“In view of the prevailing weather conditions, it has been decided to extend the summer vacation for all Government and recognized private schools in the Kashmir Division and the winter zones of Jammu Division up to July 22 (Wednesday),” Itoo said.
The extension comes amid continued high temperatures across the region and forecasts of adverse weather conditions. Schools are now scheduled to reopen on July 23, subject to any further review by the government based on weather conditions.
