The Jammu and Kashmir Government has accepted the technical resignation of Dr Ifrah Khalil Kangoo, a Medical Officer in the Jammu and Kashmir Health and Family Welfare (Gazetted) Service, with retrospective effect from January 9, 2026, following her appointment as Deputy Medical Superintendent at Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar.
The decision was issued by the Health and Medical Education Department through Government Order No. 522-JK(HME) of 2026.
According to the order, Dr Kangoo was appointed as a Medical Officer under Government Order No. 482-HME of 2019 dated May 17, 2019. She was subsequently deputed to Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, to pursue Senior Residency in Hospital Administration under Government Order No. 173-JK(HME) of 2023 dated February 27, 2023.
During her senior residency, Dr Kangoo applied for the post of Deputy Medical Superintendent at GMC Srinagar, which had been advertised by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC). Her application was routed through the Dean, Medical Faculty, SKIMS, and later forwarded by the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, to the Health and Medical Education Department, which submitted it to the JKPSC for consideration.
Following her selection by the JKPSC, Dr Kangoo was appointed as Deputy Medical Superintendent at GMC Srinagar under Government Order No. 01-JK(HME) of 2026. She assumed charge on January 9, 2026, after being formally relieved by SKIMS and the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir.
The Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, subsequently recommended the acceptance of her technical resignation from the Jammu and Kashmir Health and Family Welfare (Gazetted) Service with effect from the date she joined her new assignment.
Invoking Article 201 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Service Regulations (CSR), Volume I, the government accepted her technical resignation with effect from January 9, 2026. The order further stated that her lien in the Jammu and Kashmir Health and Family Welfare (Gazetted) Service stands terminated with immediate effect.
