A Delhi-based café owner has alleged that he received extortion calls and voice messages demanding ₹5 crore from individuals claiming to represent Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar. The callers allegedly threatened to kill him and his family if the ransom was not paid.
According to a complaint lodged with the Station House Officer (SHO) of Punjabi Bagh Police Station, Rajkumar Walia, owner of Breath Fine Lounge & Bar and Markaz Café in Punjabi Bagh, received a voice note from an international number on July 18, followed by multiple calls the next day demanding the ransom.
In his complaint, Walia stated that the caller identified himself as Goldy Brar and claimed to possess detailed information about his personal and business affairs. The caller allegedly demanded ₹5 crore and warned that failure to pay would result in the killing of either Walia or one of his family members.
The complainant further alleged that the caller threatened to increase the demand to ₹10 crore if any member of his family was harmed before the payment was made.
An audio recording of the alleged extortion call has also surfaced. In the recording, the caller is heard claiming to have detailed knowledge of Walia’s business activities and warning him against approaching the police. The caller allegedly threatened that if the demand was ignored, members of Walia’s family would be targeted before any further negotiations.
Police have received the complaint and are expected to investigate the origin of the calls, the authenticity of the threats, and the identity of those involved. Authorities have not yet officially confirmed whether the callers had any connection to the gangster whose name was used in the alleged extortion attempt.
