National Conference President and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Sunday expressed hope that the Central Government would respect the aspirations of the people and take steps to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir while addressing the concerns of Ladakh.
Speaking to reporters after meeting protesters at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, Abdullah said he hoped the government would act in the best interests of the country and respond to the demands being raised.
“I hope the government will respect the wishes of the people of this country. I hope they will work for the good of this country, that the problems of Ladakh will also be resolved, and that the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir will be restored,” Abdullah said.
His remarks came after interacting with protesters at Jantar Mantar, where various groups were raising issues concerning Ladakh and the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
