In a major crackdown following the terrorist attack that claimed the life of policeman Ashiq Hussain Qureshi, security forces demolished the houses of two active Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Officials said the house of Adil Ahmad Thoker, an active LeT militant from Guri village in Anantnag, was demolished during the night using controlled improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
In a separate operation conducted during the intervening night, security forces also razed the single-storey residential house of Haroon Rashid Ganai, son of Abdul Rashid Ganai and a resident of Hassanpora Tawella in Bijbehara. According to officials, Haroon has been associated with the LeT since 2018.
The anti-terror operations were carried out jointly by security forces as part of intensified measures against militant infrastructure in the region.
The demolitions come a day after terrorists shot dead policeman Ashiq Hussain Qureshi, an attack that drew widespread condemnation and prompted heightened security measures across Anantnag district to prevent any further attempts to disrupt peace.
Officials said security agencies remain focused on dismantling militant networks and taking firm action against individuals involved in terrorism and activities that threaten public security.
