The Jammu and Kashmir Government has appointed two candidates as Assistant Directors (Economics and Statistics) in the Jammu and Kashmir Economics and Statistics (Gazetted) Service under the Planning, Development and Monitoring Department.
According to Government Order No. 80-JK (PD&MD) of 2026, the appointments have been made on a temporary basis in Pay Level-8 (Rs 47,600–1,51,100) following the recommendations of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC).
The appointees are Kumari Kamakshi Bharti and Suneel Sharma, both selected under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category.
The order states that the appointments take effect immediately. Both officers will remain on probation for a period of two years, during which they will be required to undergo the prescribed training and qualify the departmental examination in accordance with the applicable service rules.
The government has directed the appointees to report to the Director General, Economics and Statistics, Jammu and Kashmir, within 21 days from the date of issuance of the order. Failure to join within the stipulated period will result in cancellation of the appointment without any further notice.
Before assuming charge, the candidates are required to produce original documents relating to their educational qualifications, date of birth, domicile, category certificates and other relevant records as prescribed under the rules. They must also submit an affidavit affirming the authenticity of all certificates and testimonials.
The order stipulates that if any certificate is found to be fake, forged or otherwise invalid during the verification process, the appointment shall be deemed cancelled ab initio, and appropriate legal action will be initiated in accordance with the law.
It further states that the inter se seniority of the appointees will be determined separately under the relevant service rules. The appointments will also remain subject to the outcome of any writ petitions pending before competent courts.
The Director General, Economics and Statistics, Jammu and Kashmir, has been directed to ensure thorough verification of all documents and certificates submitted by the newly appointed officers before completion of the appointment process.
