24-Year-Old Woman Killed, Another Injured in Ramban Road Accident

A 24-year-old woman was killed and another injured after the scooty they were travelling on was allegedly hit by an unidentified tanker on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Ramban district on Friday.

According to officials, the accident took place in the Seri area when the tanker, travelling from Srinagar towards Jammu, allegedly collided with the scooty after its driver lost control of the vehicle.

The two women were immediately shifted to District Hospital Ramban, where one of them was declared dead on arrival. The injured woman is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Shakeela Banoo, 24, wife of Sameer Tantary and a resident of Boli Bazar, Ramban. The injured woman, identified as Rafiya Farooq, 26, daughter of Farooq Ahmed Wani and a resident of Kundi Karol, was travelling as the pillion rider.

Police have registered an investigation into the incident and launched efforts to trace the tanker involved in the accident and identify its driver.
