The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered a series of transfers and postings of District Mineral Officers (DMOs) and other officials across several districts, with the changes taking immediate effect.
The orders were issued by the Mining Department through Government Order No. 47-JK(MNG) of 2026, dated August 21, 2026, in the interest of administration. The order also states that all officers concerned shall be deemed to have been relieved from their present places of posting.
As per the order, JKAS officer Javaid Ahmad Malik, who was awaiting orders of posting, has been appointed District Mineral Officer, Pulwama.
Kaiser Ahmed Lone, Geologist Grade-III, has been posted as District Mineral Officer, Baramulla, while Umar Mustafa Mir, also a Geologist Grade-III, has been appointed District Mineral Officer, Ganderbal. His posting will relieve Ghulam Nabi Pintoo of the additional charge of the post.
Ranjit Singh, Driller, has been posted as District Mineral Officer, Budgam.
The government has also ordered the transfer of several officials from their existing assignments.
Mohammad Saleem Dar, In-Charge Mineral Officer, has been transferred from Pulwama to the office of the Joint Director, Geology and Mining, Kashmir.
Zulfikar Mohammad Shafi, Driller, has been shifted from Baramulla to the office of the Senior Drilling Engineer, Geology and Mining, Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Nadeem Ahmad Bhat, Junior Engineer (Chemical), has been transferred from the office of the District Mineral Officer, Budgam, to the Chemical and Mineral Testing Laboratory, Budgam.
In a separate decision, Faisal Masood Wani, Driller, presently serving as District Mineral Officer, Anantnag, and Khursheed Ahmad Dar, Chemist, presently posted as District Mineral Officer, Kulgam, have been ordered to swap their respective postings.
The latest reshuffle is aimed at meeting administrative requirements and ensuring effective functioning of the Mining Department across the Union Territory.
