Crime Branch Searches Police Constable’s Srinagar Residence in Forgery Case

The Special Crime Wing Kashmir of the Crime Branch J&K conducted a search at the residence of a serving police constable in Safakadal, Srinagar, on Friday in connection with an investigation into the alleged forgery of documents used to secure an appointment in the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department.

According to the Crime Branch, the search was conducted at the residence of SG Constable Manzoor Ahmad Najar in connection with FIR No. 10/2026, registered under Sections 420, 468 and 471 of the RPC.

The agency said the search was carried out pursuant to a warrant issued by the Court of Special Mobile Magistrate (PT and E), Srinagar.

The case relates to allegations that documents concerning the constable’s date of birth and educational qualifications were allegedly forged and subsequently submitted in connection with his appointment to the J&K Police Department.

The Crime Branch said the search was conducted in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure as part of the ongoing investigation.

Investigators are examining the relevant records and circumstances surrounding the alleged submission and use of the documents to establish the facts of the case and determine responsibility.

The agency said further investigation is underway.
