The Jammu and Kashmir Home Department on Thursday ordered the transfer and posting of 14 police officers, including several senior IPS officers, with immediate effect.
According to Government Order No. 438-Home of 2026, issued on August 27, M.K. Sinha, IPS, ADG Headquarters, has been transferred and posted as ADG CID, J&K, replacing Nitish Kumar, IPS, who has been posted as ADG Armed Police, J&K, against an available vacancy.
Uttam Chand, IPS, IGP Police Operations and Services at Police Headquarters, has been transferred and posted as IGP Railways, J&K, replacing Vivek Gupta. He will continue to hold the additional charge of IGP Police Operations and Services, PHQ, until further orders.
Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, IG Jammu Zone, has been posted as IG Headquarters, J&K, against an available vacancy. Tejinder Singh, IPS, IG CID J&K, will take over as IG Jammu Zone, replacing Tuti.
Sujit Kumar, IPS, IG Security J&K, has been transferred and posted as IG Kashmir Zone, while Vivek Gupta has been posted as IG Security J&K after being relieved as IGP Railways.
The order also designates Shakti Kumar Pathak, IPS, as Director, Anti-Corruption Bureau.
At the deputy inspector general level, Mubassir Latifi Ameer, IPS, DIG Personnel, PHQ, has been transferred and posted as DIG IR Kashmir. He was also holding the additional charge of DIG Training, PHQ.
Several district-level postings have also been changed. Sahil Sarangal, IPS, SSP Handwara, has been posted as SSP Pulwama, while Sunny Gupta, IPS, Additional SP Anantnag, has been promoted to the post of SSP Kishtwar, replacing Naresh Singh.
Tahir Saleem Khan, JKPS, SO to IG Kashmir Zone, has been posted as SSP Handwara, replacing Sarangal. Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, JKPS, SSP SCW Kashmir, will take over as SO to IG Kashmir Zone.
Meanwhile, Naresh Singh, JKPS, SSP Kishtwar, has been transferred and posted as SSP Rajouri against an available vacancy.
The reshuffle brings significant changes to the senior police leadership as well as key operational and district-level assignments across Jammu and Kashmir.
