An Army personnel drowned in the Kishanganga River near Tarbal village in the Gurez area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Ashiq Hussain Khan.
Following the incident, a rescue operation was launched, during which his body was recovered from the river. The body was subsequently shifted to Dawar Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the drowning.
