Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chowdhary on Saturday described the BJP’s protest in Srinagar as a “drama”, accusing the party of shedding “crocodile tears” while projecting itself as the champion of Jammu’s interests.
Reacting to the BJP’s protest, Chowdhary alleged that the party, which frequently portrays itself as the custodian of Jammu, had instead “disempowered” the people of the region.
“The BJP sheds crocodile tears for Jammu and claims to be its custodian, but it has actually disempowered the people of Jammu,” Chowdhary said.
His remarks came in response to the BJP’s protest in Srinagar. He criticised the party’s political posturing and questioned its claims of representing the interests of Jammu.
The BJP’s protest was part of its broader political campaign against the ruling dispensation, though details of the specific issues raised during the demonstration were not immediately available.
The Deputy Chief Minister’s remarks are likely to further intensify the ongoing political confrontation between the BJP and the ruling National Conference-led government in Jammu and Kashmir.
