A young girl reportedly jumped into the Chenab River from the Shiva Bridge near Prem Nagar in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, prompting police and local residents to launch a search operation.
The girl has been identified as Payal Devi, daughter of Krishan Lal and a resident of Korara in Tehsil Mohalla of Doda, according to reports.
Police personnel reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and, along with local residents, immediately launched efforts to trace her.
Rescue teams are conducting searches in the Chenab River and adjoining areas, while local residents are assisting authorities in the operation.
The circumstances leading to the incident were not immediately known.
