The National Conference (NC) on Tuesday observed the 44th death anniversary of its founder, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, with party leaders and workers paying tributes at his grave in Naseem Bagh, Srinagar.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah visited the mausoleum of the former leader and offered floral tributes. They also performed Fateha and offered prayers in his memory.
A large number of NC leaders, legislators, senior party functionaries, workers and supporters gathered at Naseem Bagh to pay homage to Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and remember his political legacy.
Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, popularly known as Sher-e-Kashmir, founded the National Conference and played a central role in the political history of Jammu and Kashmir. He served as the region’s first elected Prime Minister and remained one of its most influential political figures.
He died on September 8, 1982, at the age of 75.
The annual observance at Naseem Bagh is marked by party workers and supporters to remember his contribution to Jammu and Kashmir’s political and social life.
