Five BSF personnel were injured after a truck carrying them overturned on National Highway-44 near Chamba Seri in Ramban district on Saturday, officials said.
The accident occurred when the BSF truck, travelling from Kashmir towards Jammu, reportedly lost control and turned turtle on the highway.
Soon after the incident, the injured personnel were evacuated from the spot and shifted to District Hospital Ramban with the assistance of Army, police and CRPF personnel, local residents and fellow BSF personnel.
Hospital authorities said all five injured personnel were undergoing treatment. Four of them were stated to be out of danger, while the driver, Shamim Ahmed, 38, a resident of Karnah in Kashmir, reportedly sustained serious injuries.
The injured were identified as Sunil Kumar, 35, son of Ramesh Lal, a resident of Jammu; Parshtum Kumar, 36, son of Paratem Chand, a resident of Jammu; Chandan Yadhav, 38, son of Ravender Yadhav, a resident of Bengal; Shamim Ahmed, 38, son of Abdul Qayoom, a resident of Karnah; and Sub-Inspector Ghar Singh, son of Mela Ram, a resident of Jammu.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further proceedings. The exact cause of the accident was not immediately known, and further details are awaited.
