Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is scheduled to introduce two bills in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Monday seeking amendments to laws governing the salaries and allowances of sitting legislators and pensions of former members.
According to the supplementary business circulated by the Assembly Secretariat, one of the bills proposes amendments to the Jammu and Kashmir State Legislature Members’ Salaries and Allowances Act, 1960.
The second bill seeks amendments to the Jammu and Kashmir State Legislature Members’ Pension Act, 1984. Both measures are listed for introduction by Abdullah during Monday’s proceedings.
The supplementary business does not specify the nature of the proposed amendments or indicate whether the changes would affect existing salary, allowance or pension rates.
