Examiner Bureau | Jammu:
Northern Railway’s Jammu Division detected 6,617 cases during an intensive ticket-checking drive conducted across the division in September 2026, generating Rs 48.88 lakh in railway revenue, according to a statement issued by Northern Railway.
The campaign was carried out at various stations, including Jammu Tawi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, as part of efforts to curb ticketless and irregular travel and ensure compliance with railway regulations.
During the drive, railway authorities also took action against violations related to smoking and littering on railway premises.
Northern Railway has appealed to passengers to travel only with valid tickets and adhere to prescribed rules concerning cleanliness and smoking at stations and other railway premises.
The railway authorities said such checking drives would help promote disciplined travel, improve passenger compliance and maintain cleaner railway facilities.
