As tensions continue to escalate in West Asia, United States President Donald Trump on Sunday issued a strong warning to Iran, threatening sweeping retaliation if Tehran refuses to accept a proposed nuclear agreement.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump accused Iran of violating an existing ceasefire understanding by opening fire in the Strait of Hormuz. He claimed that the reported firing targeted a French vessel and a United Kingdom-flagged freighter, calling the incident a serious breach.

Trump also confirmed that US representatives are set to travel to Islamabad for a new round of negotiations with Iranian officials, indicating renewed diplomatic engagement despite rising hostilities.

However, the US President coupled the diplomatic outreach with a stark warning, stating that failure to accept the deal could lead to extensive military action. He said the United States could target critical infrastructure across Iran, including power plants and bridges, if negotiations collapse.

Trump further asserted that the ongoing blockade and tensions in the Strait of Hormuz were already impacting Iran’s economy, suggesting that Tehran stands to lose significantly from continued disruption of the vital shipping route.

The remarks come at a time of heightened uncertainty in the region, where fragile ceasefire efforts coexist with military posturing and strategic pressure. While diplomatic channels remain open, the latest statements underscore the volatility of the situation and the high stakes involved in the upcoming negotiations.
