Iltija Mufti on Tuesday visited the family of 18-year-old Tanveer Chopan in the Ramban district and demanded a comprehensive investigation into his killing, urging strict action against those responsible.

Tanveer Chopan, a resident of the Phardi community who earned his livelihood through cattle rearing, was reportedly transporting a cow in a Tata Mobile vehicle when he was allegedly attacked along the Ramsoo–Makarkot stretch. He was the only brother among four sisters.

According to reports, he was assaulted by a group of individuals on suspicion related to cattle transportation. The incident allegedly involved lynching and stone pelting, following which his body was recovered from Nallah Bishnadi near Makarkot along National Highway 44.

Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested the accused persons, and an investigation is currently underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events and examine all possible angles.

The incident has triggered concern in the region, with allegations of a targeted attack surfacing. Authorities have assured a thorough probe as demands for justice continue to grow.
