Leaders, Youth Unite to Spread Awareness Against Drug Abuse and Promote Healthy Society

The Gujjar Bakarwal community on Sunday organised an awareness programme titled “Nasha Mukht Muhim 2026” at Dak Bungalow Anantnag to intensify the campaign against drug abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free society.

The event witnessed participation from several prominent social and community leaders, with UT President Nomani Sahib attending as the chief guest. Other dignitaries present on the occasion included UT Vice President Farooq Khatana Sahib, Provincial President Parvaiz Ahmad Parray, UT General Secretary Mehraj Sahib, District President Abdul Aziz Gojree Sahib, Vice President Parvaiz Ahmad Baniya, UT Coordinator Altaf Sahib, and Chief Organiser UT Mushtaq Ahmad Thekery.

Addressing the gathering, speakers highlighted the growing threat of drug addiction among youth and called for collective efforts to combat the menace. They stressed the importance of awareness, education, counselling, and active community participation in safeguarding the younger generation from substance abuse.

The leaders urged parents, teachers, religious scholars, and civil society members to work together in creating a strong social movement against drugs and in encouraging healthy lifestyles among young people.

A large number of youth and community members participated in the programme and pledged their support for the mission of building a drug-free future for Jammu and Kashmir.
