Examiner News Desk | Srinagar:

The Gulmarg Gondola service in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district will remain suspended on May 26 and 27 for technical maintenance after Monday’s malfunction left hundreds of tourists stranded mid-air for several hours.

Officials said all tickets booked for May 25, 26 and 27 will be refunded in full, while expressing regret over the inconvenience caused to visitors.

The announcement came hours after a large-scale rescue operation involving the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, SDRF, NDRF and civil administration safely evacuated nearly 400 tourists following a technical fault that halted the cable car service on Monday afternoon.

Authorities said the maintenance work is being carried out as a precautionary measure to inspect and rectify the technical issue before resuming operations.

Officials added that the Gondola service will resume only after completion of all necessary safety checks and technical inspections.
