Missing Man’s Body Recovered from Lidder River in Pahalgam

The body of a man who had been missing for the past six days was recovered from the Lidder River in the Pahalgam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday, officials said.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ashraf. According to officials, his body was found in the Aamad area of Pahalgam, following which police and rescue personnel rushed to the spot and retrieved it from the river.

Ashraf had reportedly gone missing nearly a week ago, prompting search operations by the police and other agencies in the area.

Officials said the body has been shifted for medico-legal formalities, including a post-mortem examination.

Police have initiated further proceedings to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death. An investigation is underway.
