Examiner Bureau | Srinagar:

The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has suspended its President, Javid Ahmed Kitab, with immediate effect after the Association’s Apex Council approved a resolution by circulation with an 8-0 majority, according to an official notification issued on Thursday.

The notification stated that the resolution was circulated among the eligible members of the Apex Council under Rule 23(i) of the JKCA Constitution for consideration and approval. Since the resolution pertained to the conduct and suspension of the President, it was not circulated to Kitab.

Instead, the resolution was sent to the remaining nine members of the Apex Council. Of these, eight members conveyed their approval, while one member did not communicate a decision.

“Accordingly, the Resolution stands duly passed by a majority of 8:0 in terms of Rule 23(i) read with Rule 48(6) of the Constitution of JKCA,” the notification said.

It further stated that, in accordance with the resolution, “Javid Ahmed Kitab, President, Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association, has been suspended with immediate effect.”

The notification clarified that the resolution carries the same force, validity and effect as if it had been passed at a duly convened meeting of the Apex Council. It will be placed before the Council at its next meeting for ratification in accordance with the provisions of the JKCA Constitution.

The Association has also directed all its officers, employees, affiliated units and functionaries to take all consequential steps for the immediate implementation of the resolution in strict compliance with the JKCA Constitution.
