Examiner Bureau | Srinagar:
The Jammu and Kashmir Police has issued a public advisory for pilgrims and tourists travelling during the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, urging them to cooperate with security measures to ensure a safe, smooth and well-regulated pilgrimage.
According to the advisory, unregistered Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims will not be permitted to proceed towards Srinagar. Authorities said the restriction has been imposed to regulate the movement of yatris and manage the heavy rush witnessed during the annual pilgrimage.
Police have advised all registered pilgrims to keep their Yatra Registration Slips readily available for verification at designated police and security checkpoints.
Tourists travelling towards Srinagar have also been asked to carry their hotel booking receipts and other relevant travel documents to facilitate smooth verification during security checks.
Officials said the verification process is being conducted to ensure seamless movement of vehicles, strengthen security arrangements and effectively regulate traffic along the Yatra route.
The police have appealed to the public to extend full cooperation by carrying the required documents and complying with the instructions of police personnel and other security agencies deployed at checkpoints.
The advisory comes amid an unprecedented influx of pilgrims for the 2026 Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, prompting authorities to tighten security and streamline traffic management along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and other routes leading to the holy cave shrine.
