A 20-year-old woman was allegedly abducted by unidentified persons after they reportedly opened fire at a parked car outside a court complex in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district on Tuesday, officials said.

The woman, identified as Zalufa, a resident of Chak Gaja Dhar Sherpur in Kathua district, had accompanied her relatives to the court in connection with a legal case. The family had parked their private vehicle outside the court complex in Samba town.

According to the family, the assailants arrived in another vehicle and allegedly fired several rounds at their parked car to intimidate them before forcibly abducting Zalufa.

The firing caused extensive damage to the vehicle, with one tyre punctured by gunfire and both the front and rear windshields shattered, officials said.

A police team rushed to the scene soon after the incident and launched an investigation. Security has been tightened in the area, and a manhunt has been initiated to trace the accused and rescue the abducted woman.

Police said efforts are underway to identify those involved and bring them to justice. Further investigation is in progress.
