Examiner Bureau | Srinagar:
The State Investigation Agency (SIA) Kashmir on Wednesday conducted searches at nine locations across Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a 1990 double-murder case registered in Anantnag district.
The searches were carried out in connection with FIR No. 45/1990 registered at Police Station Dooru. The case pertains to the killing of two persons in the Dooru area in 1990 and is currently being investigated by the SIA.
Officials said the searches were conducted at premises of suspects and other locations believed to be linked to the case. The operation was aimed at collecting documentary and other material that could assist investigators in tracing the accused and establishing the sequence of events surrounding the killings.
The SIA has been reinvestigating a number of old militancy-related cases as part of efforts to pursue long-pending investigations and bring them to a logical conclusion.
During Wednesday’s operation, investigators searched the identified premises for evidence, documents and other material potentially relevant to the case.
Officials said further details regarding any recoveries made during the searches would be shared after the investigation progresses.
The latest operation underscores the agency’s continued focus on revisiting unresolved cases dating back to the 1990s and identifying those allegedly involved in such incidents.
Further investigation in the case is underway.
