A woman was killed while her son sustained injuries after the scooty they were travelling on skidded off the road in the Amerbugh area of Imam Sahib in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday.
According to officials, the woman was travelling as a pillion rider on the scooty being driven by her son when the vehicle lost control and skidded off the road at Amerbugh.
The woman, identified as Saja Banoo, wife of Ghulam Qadir Naikoo of Kharwara, suffered critical injuries in the accident and died on the spot, the official said.
Her son, Shakeel Ahmad Naikoo, also sustained minor injuries in the incident.
Police have taken cognisance of the accident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the mishap.
