Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar chaired a security review-cum-traffic management meeting at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to assess the prevailing security situation and strengthen traffic arrangements across Srinagar.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Traffic Police, District Police and Central Armed Police Forces, including DIG Traffic Jammu, DIG Central Kashmir Range Srinagar, DIG Traffic Kashmir, senior CRPF officers, SSP PCR Kashmir, SSP Traffic City Srinagar, SSP Srinagar and other officers.
At the outset, officers briefed the IGP Kashmir on the security situation in their respective areas and shared suggestions for addressing existing gaps and improving traffic and security arrangements.
The meeting reviewed the existing security grid and deployment of personnel across Srinagar, with particular focus on realigning naka points wherever necessary to enhance security coverage while reducing traffic congestion.
IGP Kashmir directed officers to ensure effective security arrangements across intra-zone, inter-zone, inter-district and peripheral areas. He also ordered reinforcement of check posts at the entry and exit points of Srinagar city.
The IGP stressed the need for seamless coordination and real-time information sharing among the Traffic Police, District Police and naka points to facilitate effective monitoring and enable a swift response to emerging situations.
He further called for greater use of technology in traffic regulation, surveillance, coordination and information sharing to make the overall security and traffic-management system more efficient.
The meeting concluded with the IGP reiterating the importance of continuous review, close coordination and professional execution of security and traffic measures, with emphasis on public safety and minimising inconvenience to commuters.
