Examiner Bureau | Srinagar:
Eight tourists were safely rescued after sudden gusty winds left them stranded in the middle of Dal Lake and Nigeen Lake in Srinagar and Manasbal Lake in Ganderbal district on Thursday, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) said.
According to the SDRF, its Quick Response Teams (QRTs), stationed at Nehru Park, Nigeen Lake and Manasbal Lake, responded promptly after strong winds disrupted conditions across the water bodies.
The rescue teams reached the stranded tourists and brought them safely back to shore. No casualties were reported in the incidents.
The SDRF said the swift action of its personnel ensured the safe evacuation of the tourists amid the sudden deterioration in weather conditions.
The force maintains Quick Response Teams at key water bodies across the region to handle emergencies involving tourists and other visitors, particularly during boating activities and sudden changes in weather.
