US President Donald Trump has said he would not use nuclear weapons against Iran and does not foresee deploying American ground troops to the country, amid escalating regional tensions.
Trump’s remarks came as security concerns continued across the region, with Saudi Arabia reporting the interception of a drone launched towards its Eastern Province and Yemen’s government reporting a deadly missile attack in Aden.
A spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition said coalition forces intercepted and destroyed a drone heading towards Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.
Saudi Arabia also accused Yemen’s Houthi movement of committing “full-fledged war crimes”, alleging that its attacks endangered Muslim holy sites and pilgrims.
Meanwhile, Yemen’s government said the country’s prime minister and cabinet members survived a Houthi missile attack targeting the al-Maashiq presidential palace in Aden.
Yemen’s Health Minister said at least five people were killed and 16 others injured in the attack. Further details about the victims and the extent of the damage were not immediately available.
The developments underscore continuing security tensions in the region, with attacks and interceptions reported across multiple fronts.
