Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority has reported that 12 people were killed and 309 injured in a reported Houthi attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, prompting the Saudi-led coalition to vow a response.

The attack drew condemnation from several countries, including the United States, Qatar, Egypt and Oman, according to reports.

US President Donald Trump said he would “take a look” at the possibility of joining Saudi Arabia in strikes against the Houthis. He also said he planned to call Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who serves as the kingdom’s prime minister.

Meanwhile, tensions continued to rise across the Gulf region. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said a supertanker had struck a naval mine while travelling through what it described as an “illegal” route in the Strait of Hormuz.

Separately, US Central Command said it had “disabled” a commercial cargo vessel in the Gulf of Oman, adding to concerns over maritime security in the strategically important waterways.

The reported airport attack and the separate maritime incidents come amid heightened regional tensions, with the possibility of further military action raising concerns about wider escalation.
