Examiner Bureau | Srinagar:
The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday conducted searches at six locations across the Valley in connection with an alleged terror recruitment module, officials said.
An official said CIK teams searched residential premises in Budgam and Srinagar, besides locations in Bijbehara and Mattan areas of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district and a village in Pulwama.
The searches were carried out in coordination with local police and revenue officials in the presence of executive magistrates, he said.
According to the official, the case has been registered under FIR No. 07/2023 at Police Station CIK Srinagar and pertains to an alleged terror recruitment network operating through social media platforms to radicalise and recruit youth into proscribed terrorist organisations.
The investigation was initiated following inputs that individuals based in Pakistan, allegedly working in coordination with handlers of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and other banned outfits, were using social media platforms to lure Kashmiri youth and instigate them against the sovereignty and integrity of the country, the official added.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
