Examiner Bureau | Jammu: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Jammu Police on Saturday demolished a residential property allegedly linked to narcotics activities in the Javaid Nagar area of Niki Tawi, Jammu.
The demolition, carried out using heavy machinery, is part of an intensified anti-drug campaign aimed at dismantling networks involved in the illegal trade. Authorities stated that the action aligns with the administration’s broader push to create a drug-free society by targeting not only individuals but also assets associated with drug peddling.
The ongoing drive includes stringent measures such as seizure of properties, freezing of bank accounts, and cancellation of official documents like driving licences and Aadhaar cards of those found involved in narcotics-related offences.
Hundreds of police personnel were deployed in the area to ensure law and order during the operation, with adequate security arrangements put in place to prevent any untoward incident. Prior to the demolition, residents of the house were allowed to retrieve their belongings, including essential household items.
The action has evoked mixed reactions among locals. While many welcomed the strict measures against drug peddlers, others expressed concern over the potential impact on family members not directly involved in illegal activities.
Officials, however, defended the move, asserting that such decisive steps are necessary to dismantle the financial backbone of drug trafficking networks and serve as a strong deterrent against the menace.
