Examiner Bureau | Srinagar: An atmosphere of deep emotion and spiritual devotion enveloped the Haj House in Bemina, Srinagar on Saturday morning as the first batch of pilgrims departed for the annual Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
Marking the beginning of this year’s sacred journey, hundreds of family members gathered at the Haj House premises from the early hours to bid farewell to their loved ones. The scene was filled with a mix of tears, prayers, and heartfelt wishes, as families shared emotional moments before parting.
Some stood in silent embraces, while others raised their hands in prayer. Children waved goodbye to elders, women wiped away tears, and elderly pilgrims recited verses while holding prayer beads and travel documents, reflecting the deep spiritual significance of the journey.
“It feels like Allah has invited us to His house. We waited many years for this moment,” said an elderly pilgrim moments before entering the departure gate. Family members expressed both joy and sorrow, calling the pilgrimage a blessing for their households.
According to officials, a total of 431 pilgrims departed on the first day through three scheduled flights, including 230 men and 201 women. The batches were organised in a phased manner to ensure smooth boarding and minimal congestion.
Executive Officer of the Haj Committee, Shujaat Ahmad Qureshi, said all necessary arrangements—including transportation, baggage handling, medical screening, and documentation—had been put in place for a seamless departure process.
Pilgrims were advised to adhere strictly to reporting schedules and carry all essential documents, including passports, visas, and vaccination certificates, while complying with baggage guidelines.
The departure not only marked the start of a spiritual journey for the pilgrims but also reflected the deep faith and cultural traditions associated with Hajj in the region.
